Spot On Wake is the most northerly cable wakeboard park in the UK — set on Aboyne Loch in Aberdeenshire, in the foothills of the Cairngorms about 30 miles west of Aberdeen. It’s the only Highland cable park and gives Aberdeen, Inverness and Cairngorms-based riders a venue without the drive south to the central-belt parks.
What to expect
A full-size cable with a basic obstacle park — smaller than the well-established southern parks but with a strong learner-focus and friendly local rider community. Beginner sessions use a slower-speed setup. The loch setting is genuinely scenic — the Deeside hills surrounding give the place a particular character that the inland gravel-pit parks don’t match.
Practical notes
The shortest Scottish season — May through September is practical. Wetsuit: 4/3 throughout the season, 5/4/3 in May and September. Aboyne village has a couple of cafes and B&Bs; Ballater and Banchory are 10-15 minutes’ drive with more options. Combine with the Cairngorms walking, the Royal Deeside castle trail, or a day at the Aberdeen coast. Bookings via the Spot On Wake website.
