Festival Wakeboard & Aqua Park is a cable wakeboarding and aqua park in Basildon, Essex, beside the Festival Leisure Park just off Cranes Farm Road. It runs a full-size 660-metre Rixen cable tow alongside a shorter 175-metre straight-line cable for beginners, set on a lake in the middle of town.
What to expect
The big Rixen cable suits confident riders working the obstacles, while the straight-line cable is geared to learners and first sessions, which has earned the park a strong teaching reputation. Sitting right beside the Festival Leisure Park — with its restaurants, cinema and bowling — it makes an easy half-day out, and there's an inflatable aqua park for warmer days.
Getting there car-free
The park is in the middle of Basildon, so it's well served by public transport. Basildon station, on the c2c line with frequent trains from London Fenchurch Street and Southend, is the nearest, with Pitsea station also close by; from either it's a short bus or taxi to the lake.
Can you get to Festival Wakeboard Park without a car?
Yes. Train to Basildon or Pitsea on the c2c line from London, then a short bus or taxi. Its in-town setting makes it one of the easier wakeparks to reach car-free from the capital.
