Sheffield Cable Wake Park is the only cable wakeboard park in South Yorkshire — set on the Rother Valley Country Park lakes a few miles south-east of Sheffield. It serves the wider Yorkshire and East Midlands rider catchment, with strong public-transport access (Sheffield Supertram to Halfway, then a 15-minute walk) and a solid learner programme.

What to expect

A full-size five-tower cable with a graded obstacle park — kicker, slider, fun-box, plus occasional pop-up features. The beginner cable runs separately at slower speeds. The country-park setting gives the venue a pleasant outdoor feel; the lakes are good-sized and well-maintained. Kit hire is full; lesson packages cover absolute beginners through to advanced.

Practical notes

Open April through October. Wetsuit: 3/2 summer, 4/3 from September. Bookings via the Sheffield Cable Wake Park website. Public transport: Supertram from Sheffield city centre to Halfway then walk; otherwise car park on site. The Rother Valley Country Park has cafes and walking trails, so non-wakeboarding friends have things to do. Combine with a Peak District day-trip from Sheffield for a strong outdoor weekend.

Who it suits

Sheffield Cable Wake Park is the only cable park in South Yorkshire, on the Rother Valley lakes. It suits beginners and improvers, and serves a big urban catchment around Sheffield and Rotherham.

Getting there car-free

The park is in the Rother Valley country park, on the edge of Sheffield. Sheffield is the main railhead, with the Supertram and local buses running out toward the Rother Valley and nearby Woodhouse station closer still, leaving a short walk or taxi.
