Foxlake sits on the East Lothian coast about 20 miles east of Edinburgh — Scotland's first dedicated cable wakeboard park, opened in 2010 on a former limestone quarry. It's a more compact venue than Liquid Leisure but has the same range of cable types and a strong learner scene that has grown a generation of Scottish riders.
What to expect
A full-size five-tower cable for intermediate and advanced riders, plus a separate two-tower beginner cable for first-time and learner sessions. The full cable has a small obstacle park — kicker, slider, fun-box — that's friendly to riders learning their first tricks. The site is sheltered enough that wind rarely shuts it down. The water clarity is good for an inland UK venue.
Practical notes
Open April through October. Foxlake also runs aerial assault courses, tree-top adventure and an inflatable aqua park — handy if you're bringing non-wakeboarders. Lessons book through the website. Full hire kit included in lesson prices. Wetsuit: 4/3 most of the season; bring a hat for the wind. The cafe on site is decent. Edinburgh and the East Lothian villages (Dunbar, North Berwick) are obvious accommodation bases.
Who it suits
Foxlake was Scotland's first dedicated cable wakeboard park, and suits beginners through to advanced riders on the East Lothian coast. Its closeness to Edinburgh makes it the obvious choice for riders in the central belt.
Getting there car-free
The park is on the East Lothian coast, near Dunbar. Dunbar has its own station on the East Coast Main Line, with fast trains from Edinburgh, leaving only a short taxi to the lake — one of the more accessible Scottish wakeparks by rail.
